Wonderful show and lots of variety of food. Drinks were well priced. Amazing vibe everyone was so friendly

Great spot for lunch, the buffet had various options of meat including the traditionally cooked pig, salads, vegetables and desserts. Drinks were quite well priced and the music was a nice touch and not too loud. The setting was beautiful, overlooking the beach. After lunch we were able to walk down and along the beach. You were able to keep going back to buffet until all the food was gone. I was glad that we pre-booked as the restaurant was full. As Katea is located quite a distance from Nukualofa, having your own transport (especially on a Sunday when everything is closed) is a must. We enjoyed our experience.

I had a wonderful experience at Katea Retreat! Everyone was so warm and welcoming, and Sheila was very flexible and made sure I could fully enjoy my experience. The show was fantastic, and I especially loved trying the traditional Tongan food at the buffet. Even the whole roasted pig was delicious! It was a truly memorable local experience and one of the highlights of my trip to Tonga. Mālō ‘aupito! 🌺

We enjoyed the oceanfront lunch very much and the food etwas among the best we had in Tonga. The gospel music is one dude with a Casio (which he plays well and knows all the buttons), and it was entertaining. They initially did not have our reservation and there was confusions with our deposit and how much we still owed. I would’ve also loved to have had more pig as we only got the tiniest sliver of the pig, which looked amazing. The cocktails were amazing, the 2021 Aussie wine not so much, clearly past its prime. Overall it was a great experience, uniquely Tongan and one of the few things to do on a Sunday. WE did think it was closer tot he beach (i.e. on it) whereas the venue is sitting on a cliff top high above the beach, and we could not find a track down, but the weather wasn’t great, so it all worked out.

We really enjoyed the pig roast and the dance show. The buffet was plentiful with a wide variety of delicious food. The entertainment was wonderful with the fire dances being our favorite. Very hospitable and friendly host. We would highly recommend the Katea Resort.

A fantastic night of local food & Tongan dancing. Very worthwhile.
