Description

Lakufa’anga, a place often discovered by 'Eua's visitors, is renowned for its breathtaking cliff formations, natural rock gardens and encounters with nesting seabirds and wild horses. However, the legend associated with this location carries a tragic tale from a time of famine when a family resided on these cliffs. Their sole sustenance was the fā, or pandanus fruit. When their food source dwindled, the parents made the ultimate sacrifice by leaping from the cliffs, hoping to save their children. Unfortunately, the food eventually ran out, leading to the children meeting the same fate. There's also folklore suggesting that the family transformed into turtles, a story you can explore further through interpretive panels erected at Lakufa’anga Cliffs.
