Description

Just before reaching Hulu’ i Paongo Point at the southern tip of Lifuka, visitors can discover the historical Hulu’ i Paongo Tomb. This burial site is notable as the final resting place for a long line of chiefs known as Mata’uvave. Despite being the highest burial mound on the island, it remains somewhat inconspicuous, nestled up a grassy hill adjacent to the modern cemetery, distinct from the more decorated burial sites.
