Description
The Hufangalupe Land Bridge, situated on Tonga's main island of Tongatapu, is a remarkable natural formation created by the collapse of a sea cave's roof. This geological feature is located along the southeastern coast of the island, where waves frequently break near its entrance. The name "Hufangalupe" translates to "Pigeon's Gate" in English. Note that the area is a challenge to navigate with no particularly marked trails. With steep drop-offs, it can also be hazardous so bear this in mind if visiting the site with children.
Highlights
- Unique natural land bridge
- Dramatic coastal scenery
- Challenging but rewarding exploration
