Ha’amonga 'a Maui, located in Tongatapu, is Tonga's most iconic historical landmark and a marvel of ancient Polynesian engineering. Dating back to around 1200 AD, this stone trilithon, constructed under the rule of Tu’i Tonga Tu’itatui, consists of three massive coral limestone slabs weighing about 30 to 40 tons each.
