What to Expect
We begin your Tongatapu half-day guided tour by picking you up from your accommodation or hotel in Tongatapu. The first stop is the unique Three-Headed Coconut Tree, perfect for a fun photo and a quirky story—it’s the only one in the Pacific, or so we like to believe!
Next, we visit the Mapu’a Vaea Blowholes, a spectacular natural wonder showcasing the ocean’s raw strength. The name “Mapu’a Vaea” comes from the whistling sound traditionally made to signal the blowholes’ activity.
Our journey continues to the impressive Tsunami Rock, an enormous boulder deposited inland by the sheer force of nature, serving as a powerful reminder of the ocean’s might.
We then head to the village of Kolovai, home to Tonga’s iconic flying foxes (fruit bats). These fascinating creatures have been here since time immemorial and are considered a delicacy reserved exclusively for the royal family.
The tour concludes at the Abel Tasman Landing, a site steeped in history, marking the Dutch explorer’s arrival in Tonga. After this final stop, we return you to your pick-up point, rounding off an unforgettable exploration of Tongatapu’s west coast.
