Atop Funga Te’emoa, the highest point on the island at 312 meters (1,024 feet), you'll find Soldier's Grave, a poignant historical site. This location holds the final resting place of Lance Corporal Alan Ernest Yealands, who served as part of the Coast Watchers during World War 2 on 'Eua Island. His mission was to vigilantly observe and report any unusual activities along Tonga's coastline. Tragically, Yealands lost his life to friendly fire, and his comrades laid him to rest at this remote spot, now renowned as "Soldier's Grave" or "Lonely Grave."
