The Kilikilitefua Wall in Vava’u is a historic monument that tells the story of royal lineage through a unique form of census. Established around 400 years ago, legend has it that each volcanic rock placed at the site represents a member of the royal family. Over time, so many rocks were added that they formed an entire wall. While originally more extensive, some stones have since been repurposed by residents for construction projects. This site offers a glimpse into the ancient traditions and the importance of family lineage in Tongan culture.
