Directions

Follow signs for Fangatave Beach, signposted along the dirt road heading east at the northern end of Houma village, northeast coast of ‘Eua.

This wall is accessed directly from the main descent gully. It is suitable only for climbers with proper equipment and experience.
  1. Locate the top of the descent gully.
The gully sits directly below the lookout shown on the walking tracks. It is close to a post and wire fence and an old MFAT sponsored sign.
  2. Begin the abseil.
The descent does not run straight down. First rappel the main gully, then traverse left into a small recess, and then rappel again to reach the jungle floor. As you descend, clip bolts to help guide the rope and use redirects to reduce rope damage.
  3. Note the climb out option.
The descent line is equipped with bolts for climbing back up at about Grade 14. Leaving a fixed rope in place with your gear is recommended to make exiting the gully easier.
  4. Reach Descent Gully Wall.
The wall is located directly around the base area of the gully. Before continuing left toward Small Wall and Whale Wall, you will find the routes of Descent Gully Wall immediately accessible from the jungle floor at the bottom of the abseil.

A guide is highly recommended for your first visit.
